AFC Lesson Plans: Course work for Refuting Evolution by Dr. Jonathan Sarfati

Lesson Plans and Assignments for course work will be posted monthly to our web site. Sample questions and answers along with actual test questions will also be available. Below is the high level overview of the program. Outline the first chapter in class. Ask participants to give a 90 sec. verbal outline of chapter. Discuss the different results.
Class 1:
Prayer time: Everyone pray (in groups of 5 to 8) on concerns, expectations and needs. (15 minutes)
Introduction: Start the book and introduce its purpose, methods, weaknesses, and strengths. Cover: Foreword by Ken Ham; Introduction; Chapter 1 - Evolution & creation, Science & Religion, Facts & Bias.
Activities:
Homework Assignment:Use highlighter and outline chapters one and two of the book. Write a detailed talking outline for chapter two. Read first four chapters.
Class 2:
Prayer time: Everyone pray (in groups of 5 to 8) on concerns, expectations and needs. (15 minutes)
Introduction: Cover: Chapter 2 - Variation and Natural Section Versus Evolution. Introduce next two chapters. Ask everyone to pick one or two chapters to do a detailed outline in preparation to give a four to ten minute talk.
Activities: Give verbal presentation of homework outline of chapter two in class and have presenter state what they liked and disliked about their presentation afterwards. Have other students state how it could be improved.
Homework Assignment: Read, and outline with highlighter, chapters three through six of the book. Improve written talking outline for student's selected chapter.
Class 3:
Prayer time: Everyone pray (in groups of 5 to 8) on concerns, expectations and needs. (15 minutes)
Introduction: Cover: Chapter 3 - The Links Are Missing.; Chapter 4 - Bird Evolution.; Chapter 5 - Whale Evolution.; Chapter 6 - Humans: Images of God or Advanced Apes? Demonstrate how to give a verbal three minute presentation of a chapter. Introduce a second general text, Real Scientists Just Say No to Evolution. Make sure students get a copy and start reviewing it.
Activities: Ask everyone to give a three minute verbal talk on their selected chapter. Discuss results and repeat the three minute drill. Have other students state how it could be improved.
Homework Assignment: Read, and outline with highlighter, the rest of the chapters of the book. Improve written talking outline for student's selected chapter. Write two or more multiple choice questions with answers on your chapter.
Class 4:
Prayer time: Everyone pray (in groups of 5 to 8) on concerns, expectations and needs. (15 minutes)
Introduction: Cover: Chapter 7 - Astronomy.; Chapter 8 - How Old Is the Earth?; Chapter 9 - Is the Design Explanation Legitimate?; Chapter 10 - Conclusion.
Activities: Ask everyone to give a five minute verbal talk on their selected chapter. Discuss results and repeat the five minute drill. Have other students state how it could be improved.
Homework Assignment: Reread and review highlighted outline of the entire book. Improve written talking outline for student's selected chapter. Improve your questions and answer choices for your chapter in both quantity and quality. Write questions on other chapters (at least one). Test them on your family.
Class 5: Public type meeting preferred
Prayer time: One person prays on concerns, expectations and needs. (5 minutes)
Introduction: Spokesperson gives an overview of what will be happening and does the introductions.
Activities: In sequence, everyone in AFC will give a finished four to ten minute verbal talk on their selected chapter. Leave time for Q&A between presentations and have one question ready to ask the audience.
Homework Assignment: Using highlighted outline, write 10 multiple choice questions on your chapter. Write down results of your chapter presentation. Read Chapter one of Real Scientists Just Say No to Evolution.
Class 6:
Prayer time:
Introduction: Real Scientists Just Say No to Evolution. Activities: Discuss book in general and public presentations.
Homework Assignment: Read/outline chapters two and three.
